Sexton Cattle Company is owned by Dwight and Suzanne Sexton, and is located in Cost, Texas, in Gonzales County.
Dwight is a native of Ainsworth, Iowa, and is the third generation in his family to raise purebred seedstock. He attended Iowa State University and received a B.S. degree in Animal Science and was a member of the ISU Meats Judging Team and also the 1992 National Champion Livestock Judging Team. Dwight attended Michigan State University and received a Masters degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics. Utilizing his academic and beef cattle production background, Dwight judges many cattle shows, and has judged cattle shows in 12 states along with one Canadian province.
In 1999, Dwight relocated his cowherd from Iowa to Texas, and has been ranching in Gonzales county ever since. Sexton Cattle Company is an intensively managed operation, relying heavily on embryo transfer to further genetic progress.
An addition to the ranching enterprise, Dwight has worked for Texas Cooperative Extension for 10 years and is the agriculture Extension agent in Gonzales County, the largest cow/calf county in Texas.
